Gossip Girl Stars Think Scandalous Ads are Smart
Parents are in a tizzy over the new Gossip Girl ads, which are quite scandalous and sexual in nature. However, the actors from the show seem to think they’re a savvy marketing tool, and they’re probably right!
“We just end up seeing it on a billboard somewhere,” says Leighton Meester. “But I think that it’s smart and it’s fine and it’s cool.”
“They’re very smart,” says Chace Crawford. “Everybody keeps saying they’re so racy, of course they’re racy, but you say they’re smart.”
I think they definitely achieved what they were going for…getting people to talk about it! More racy ads after the jump….

The ads ARE smart, but I also think they take the focus away from the cast and put it on the racy nature of the show. Which is fine for advertising but having a good cast is so important! They deserve credit for the show’s success. I work for BBC America, and right now we’re promoting a British show called “Skins” that’s debuting over here August 17th at 9 p.m. It’s awesome because it’s not just well-written but the casting is just perfect. It deals with a lot of similar themes to Gossip Girl, and I highly recommend you check it out! You can learn more about the show and watch some clips and cast interviews at http://www.bbcamerica.com/skins.
I hope I’m not overstepping my bounds by posting this comment, I’m just trying to get the word out
