2008 VMA Performances and Winners
Even though Britney Spears did not perform, she did look great opening up the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards. Before host Russell Brand failed to make anyone laugh while pissing off Republicans, Rihanna opened the performance part of the show.
The Jonas Brothers lost their VMA virginity performing at the event for the first time. Lil Wayne, one of, if not the hottest rapper right now, rapped his songs “A Millie” and “Got Money” alongside T Pain, almost losing his pants.
Pink rocked it out in a leotard-looking get up and T.I sang his new single “Whatever You Like” with a surprise second performance from Rihanna. Christina Aguilera went back in time belting out her first hit song “Genie in a Bottle” mixing it up with new single “Keeps Gettin’ Better.” Kid Rock mixed it up with Lil Wayne performing “All Summer Long.”
Closing the show was Kanye West, who claimed last year he would not come back to the VMAs after having to perform in a suite and not on stage.

After winning her 3rd award, Brit rode off with Russell Brand on a golf cart where the host claimed Spears “conquered” the award show. This was a much better comeback than last year’s VMAs! Way to get better and turn it all around!
Jordin Sparks spoke her piece against the offending host, saying, “Alright I just have one thing to say about promise rings, it’s not bad to wear a promise ring ’cause not everybody, guy or girl, wants to be a slut.”
Christopher Mintz from the movie Superbad came out with the band Slipknot while pretending to be wasted.
Pete Wentz and his pregnant wife Ashlee Simpson took their shots at critics saying, “And just think nobody thought this would last.”
Some other presenters included Jaime Foxx, Shia Lebouf, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Lauren Conrad, Josh Peck and Drake Bell from the Disney show Drake and Josh and Kobe Bryant.
