MTVs ‘Total Request Live’ Will Be Airing Its Last Show
After ten years on the air, MTV’s Total Request Live will air it’s final live taping in a two-hour special on a Saturday afternoon in November.
MTV insists that the show, better known as TRL, isn’t ending for good. The network just felt the time was right to retire the show’s format for a while. Executive producer, Dave Sirulnick says:
“We want to close this era of `TRL’ in a big celebratory way, and 10 is a great number. And 10 is the number that `TRL’ counted down every single day for 10 years, and we hit this 10th (anniversary) and we thought, `You know what? This feels like the right time and let’s celebrate it and let’s reward it.”
Originally hosted by Carson Daly, the music video countdown show premiered music videos and helped to launch the careers of Britney Spears, Christina Aguilea and ‘N Sync. Think one of them will visit for the big finale?
