garner gets restraing order against stalker

Jennifer Garner visited court on November 7th to get a restraining order against her alleged stalker, Steven Burky. Garner and her lawyer told the court that the 36-year-old fan has been engaging in “excessive and harassing behavior” toward the actress since 2002 but has escalated in recent months.

Garner stated in a written affidavit that he has been sending “packages and letters containing delusional and paranoid thoughts and following me around the country.” Jen’s security guard, Denis Bridwill, attested that Burky tried to gain entrance to her business office dressed as a monk. He has also shown up on the actresses doorstep, saying that God has sent him a vision that she is being persecuted and might die because of it.

Garner returns to court today to ask the judge to make the temporary restraining order he granted permanent. As of now the alleged stalker must stay at least 100 yards away from Jennifer, her husband Ben Affleck, their two year old daughter Violet, the nanny, housekeeper and her assistant. The order also prohibits him from possessing or trying to obtain a gun.
