Ryan Reynolds Cast As “Green Lantern”
Ryan Reynolds has officially been cast in the Green Lantern role for the new live-action film based on the DC Comics hero.
The role was offered to Reynolds, as well as Jared Leto and Bradley Cooper(“The Hangover”).
Reynolds has started landing bigger roles, with “The Proposal” that just overshot the $100 million line in the past few days. He also played Deadpool in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”.
The Green Lantern will be directed by Martin Campbell, and is still in the pre-production stage, set to begin filming in January of 2010. Reynolds plays an ordinary man who was the “power ring” by an alien who is looking for a human to take it’s place as the Green Lantern. The film got its name from the battery-powered Lantern the alien carries around.
The film is set to be released on June 17, 2011. More about the film will be released soon.
