New Moon Sets New Record at Box Office
Friday’s much anticipated opening of New Moon did not disappoint; the film earned $72.7 million, making the second movie in the Twilight saga the highest grossing film in a single day.
New Moon is expected to pull in $125 million over the opening weekend which will place it at #4 on the list of the top-grossing opening weekend films behind 2008’s The Dark Knight ($158.4 million), 2007’s Spider-Man 3 ($151 million) and 2006’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest ($135.6 million).
