George Clooney to Host Haiti Relief Telethon

George Clooney will host a telethon Friday, January 22 to raise money for Haitian relief efforts in the wake of the devastating earthquake that left the country in shambles. The telethon will reportedly air across MTV’s various networks, including VH1.
A rep for MTV confirmed the news to Hollyscoop saying, “I can confirm that George Clooney is working with MTV Networks to plan a Haiti relief telethon for next Friday, but those are the only details we can share at the moment. It’s all still coming together.”
The fierce 7.0 magnitude earthquake ripped through Haiti, 10 miles southwest of Port-au-Prince on Tuesday, leaving the capital city in chaos.
Clooney has reached out to other celebrities and encourged them to donate to relief campaigns. Several have already pledged their support; Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie donated $1 million to Doctors Without Borders, Lance Armstrong has donated $250,000 and Haitian-born Wyclef Jean is sending all donations from www.yele.org to Haiti.
